Common signs of a weak battery

  • Slow engine cranking
  • Clicking when trying to start
  • Dim interior or dashboard lights
  • Electrical accessories becoming weak
  • Difficulty starting after the vehicle sits for some time
  • Battery warning or charging-system problems

Battery problems are not always caused by the battery

A vehicle that repeatedly loses power may have another electrical problem. A faulty alternator, parasitic drain, poor battery terminals, or damaged wiring can produce symptoms that look like a bad battery.

This is why testing the battery together with the charging system is important.

When should you test the battery?

If your vehicle is becoming increasingly difficult to start or electrical performance is changing, have the battery and charging system tested before the vehicle leaves you stranded.
